LSU coach Brian Kelly is no stranger to the tight end position, and with a handful of former blue chip recruits already in the Tiger position room, they’re now starting to look towards their next great player. Notably, as the search continues on, the purple and gold were recently included as one of six schools still in contention for elite class of 2025 tight end Da’Saahn Brame.

Class of 2025 tight end names LSU as one of his top six schools

Seemingly each day, more and more recruits are beginning to trim down their list of top schools in preparation for the fast approaching fall football season.

For coach Brian Kelly and LSU, the most recent to include the Tigers among his top six schools was that of class of 2025 tight end Da’Saahn Brame out of Derby, KS.

While tight end isn’t exactly a need per se, coach Kelly has been known for his work with the position throughout his career, and relatively unsurprisingly, he’s brought those habits down to Baton Rouge with him. When taking over the program in 2022, few, if any tight ends were officially listed on the roster, meaning that there was some work to do on the recruiting trail.

Since then, the Tigers have brought in five four-star or better tight ends, including Mac Markway, Ka’Morreun Pimpton and Trey’Dez Green. Now, they’re in excellent shape as they look to snag an elite class of 2025 tight end to go with their already impressive group of commitments.

When imagining your prototypical tight end prospect, it’s hard not to imagine someone like Brame as far as physicality goes. Listed at 6-foot-6, 235 pounds, his frame is fantastic and has plenty of room to grow ahead of his senior year of high school football.

Additionally, with both his parents being former college/professional level athletes, his background lends to plenty of confidence as far as upside goes.

Ranking as the No. 4 tight end, according to 247Sports, as well as No. 99 nationally, Brame has some work to do when it comes to blocking and overall physicality at the line of scrimmage. With that said, there are very few players in the entire cycle who are able to high-point and catch the ball as well as him.

Right now, the Oregon Ducks are currently the far and away favorites to land the big-time Derby, KS, product. Furthermore, Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma, Ole Miss and Tennessee are also among the top schools remaining in contention.
