Michigan football ended a three-month commitment drought on Monday by landing elite defensive lineman Nate Marshall. But as far as the next commitment, that should come much sooner.

It’s hard to predict when commitments will happen unless there is a commitment date and that’s what we got on Wednesday from top in-state target Avery Gach.

Gach is a 6-foot-5, 290-pound offensive tackle and he’s been trending with expert projections across all the major recruiting sites for the past few weeks. Gach is ranked No. 240 overall in the 2025 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. He’s also ranked second in the state of Michigan.

In-state Michigan football target sets commitment date

Ohio State is among the four finalists announced by Gach along with Michigan, Wisconsin, and Michigan State. While there was talk about Gach wanting to wait until this summer to announce a decision, it appears his recent visits and the one for the Michigan spring game have changed that.

Gach will announce his commitment next Friday, May 3rd. All signs and projections are pointing to Michigan football and this would be the 5th commitment overall for the Wolverines in the 2025 class.

Rivals have talked about how Michigan football recruiting hasn’t gone well since winning the national championship. But a head coaching change is always going to impact things, especially when so many staffers leave.

Yet, if Gach does commit, Michigan would be 5/5 for composite four-star recruits giving them a blue-chip ratio of 100 percent. It’s also not even June yet and things are trending up with Marquise Davis too, so on the whole, Michigan football recruiting is finally heating up.
