The May 7, 2024, episode of WWE NXT went down live at the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. The show featured multiple segments and matches. NXT continued its build towards Battleground as well.

Several main roster stars such as Michin (aka Mia Yim) and Shayna Baszler worked the show. That said, let’s look into the biggest hits and misses from WWE NXT this week.

Hit – Wes Lee’s successful in-ring comeback

Wes Lee made his surprise return at NXT Spring Breakin’ Week 2. The Kardiak Kid took on Josh Briggs in NXT opener this week. An emotional Lee made his way to the ring amid a massive ovation from his peers.

Lee brought a flurry of offense against Briggs. The big man dominated the first part of the match with his size and strength advantage. Ivar watched the action from the commentary. Lee picked up the win with a Corkscrew Senton.

Miss – Shayna Baszler vs. Karmen Petrovic

Seeds for Shayna Baszler versus Karmen Petrovic were planted at NXT Spring Breakin’. Baszler would put away Petrovic with a chokehold submission during the Women’s Underground match between Natalya and Lola Vice.

Both women met in the second match of the night on WWE NXT. Petrovic showed some momentum but failed to get the decisive win. Nothing special other than a quick win for the Queen of Spades.

Hit – WWE NXT Women’s Combine

NXT General Manager Ava held a Women’s Combine to determine the participants for the NXT Women’s North American Championship qualifier. The NXT Universe witnessed the drills inside the Performance Center.

The participants qualified on the basis of their strength, speed, power, and conditioning. Sol Ruca topped the competition. She is joined by the likes of Jaida Parker, Lash Legend, Michin, and Thea Hail.

Qualifying matches begin next week on WWE NXT.

Miss – Ridge Holland & Chase U angle

I can’t seem to understand the direction for Ridge Holland. Is he a heel or a babyface? I thought he turned heel by attacking Joe Gacy. Last night, Holland had a babyface interaction with Hail before being interrupted by Lexis King.

Duke Hudson stepped up to take on King. Hudson had the momentum in his favor in the early goings of the match. However, Holland’s inadvertent distraction ended up costing the Australian superstar his match against King.

Hit – Lash Legend face turn tease

Lash Legend and the rest of the Meta Four welcomed Trick Williams to Supernova Sessions this week on NXT. Williams said he wanted to know what was inside the envelope. He then finally caused Lash to acknowledge their relationship.

Dar took advantage of the distraction to knock out the NXT Champion as Lash watched with a look of concern on her face. It seems we are getting Williams versus Dar for the NXT Championship in the coming weeks.

Hit – Roxanne Perez vs. Chelsea Green on WWE NXT

Chelsea Green reunited with her former manager Robert Stone on WWE NXT this week. The former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion squared off against Roxanne Perez for the NXT Women’s Championship in the main event.

This was a really good main event. The challenger got a great deal of offense on the challenger. Kudos to both women for putting on a great back-and-forth match. Roxanne retained her title following a Pop Rox.
