Andy Reid finally broke the silence over how the Kansas City Chiefs are handling the Rashee Rice situation. As the Chiefs prepare for the voluntary offseason training camp, Reid is hopeful that it will see a positive end.
Rice was involved in a massive car crash in Dallas last month. Dashcam footage showed that he and a few others left the scene before the police arrived and did not even stopped to help the injured.
Rice turned himself in after a lookout notice was sent in his name. He is facing eight felony charges for which he has to pay a fine of $1 million. Until the payment is settled, he will remain in jail custody.
Coach Reid revealed that he had the chance to speak with Rice. However, he refused to reveal the details.
I’m leaving, like we’ve done most of these [law matters] just for the law enforcement part of it to take place, and then we’ll go from there with that. I have had an opportunity to talk to Rashee, so I’m not going to obviously get into that. Andy Reid said per the Dallas Morning News

The primary goal during the next few days is discussion, planning for the draft, and conditioning of the players. Most of the work will take place on Zoom calls, and only those required to be present at the facility must turn up daily.
The reporters asked Reid whether Rice would be able to participate in the training session.
There’s no real participation other than Zoom, so he’ll participate in that. Other than that, we don’t have anything going on here that he would be involved with. Reid said
He reminded everyone that these preliminary sessions are voluntary, so a player can easily avoid showing up for practice like CeeDee Lamb . However, because Rice is under custody for overspeeding, he may miss it entirely.
We’ll just see how it goes. I want to keep gathering information from the law enforcement people. Reid added
Well, amidst his son and Rice, Andy Reid needs to keep a clear head because they are the reigning Super Bowl Champions. With the SMU graduate’s future in doubt, they need a wide receiver to fill in his place. Perhaps new signing Hollywood Brown will be the answer for the Chiefs.
